INSTITUT INSTITUT: Again, Jirka Skála – Aspiration as a Trap, Aspiration as a Virtue

The new exhibition at Galerie Dukla in the Poruba passage is a bold project by the art collective INSTITUT INSTITUT. For this occasion, the group has decided to appropriate the previous exhibition for an entire new exhibition cycle, keeping it exactly as it was installed by its original author several months ago.

Contemporary authors thus create a kind of subtle, drawn-out monodrama that gradually turns into a comedy—like when something takes so long that we eventually start laughing at it sincerely. However, a conceptual joke, at the moment of its realization, becomes something entirely serious—whether in the context of exploring the boundaries of contemporary art, authorship, and public space, or in economic contexts.

Galerie Dukla is an exhibition space in a public location, with an entrance from the Main Street. This plays a crucial role in the whole matter. Hundreds of people pass through it daily, and over time, for regular passersby, the exhibitions may become nothing more than a stagnant backdrop. Will anyone even notice?

Throughout the exhibition, additional performative lectures by the authors will take place.
