Miriam Budzáková

Miriam Budzáková was born in a city Žilina, well known for its football fan’s team Šošoni, in the northern part of Slovakia. At the age of 4 she was put in a gymnastics club by an input of her mother, whose wish was to be become a dancer. Miriam surprisingly with not so much interest managed to stay in the field of gymnastics until her 15 years, after/until she attended conservatory where she started to study different types of dances. Today she is very happy for those 11 years of gymnastics, because she learned lots of tricks which she can now use in her dance practice.

She is a graduate of the Bachelor's degree at the Department of Dance Theatre and Performance at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava and of the Master's degree at the Experimental Dance Academy SEAD in Salzburg (2022).

Miriam is currently focusing on creating site-specific performances, contact improvisation and physical theatre. She is the co-organizer of the multi-genre dance festival "Tanečno "in Slovakia, which was founded in 2017.

In her own works she flows around contemporary dance and performance art, where she currently finds many possibilities and stimulus for creating. She is currently focusing on creating sustainable artistic practices in which she tries to find and create different kinds of ecosystems. Most of her performative and creative practice is on creating site-specific performances. In her works, she often proposes a dialog between ecology and human body. In addition to those, she is as well interested in other forms of creating and performing, especially those that are peculiar and unconventional, those that usually lift your eyebrow.
